Iraqis are gradually putting a country together.
An Iraqi oil refinery in Najaf, 160 kilometers south of Baghdad, has boosted its production capacity by about 10,000 barrels per day.
..
Iraq’s Oil Minister, Hussein al-Shahristani, expressed hope that the country’s oil sector will further develop with the construction of new refineries in Nasiriyah and Karbala, AP reported.
For reference, this is about 1/6th of what Iraq is currently forced to import due to lack of refining capacity and the vast increase in the number of cars (p 47) since the prohibitive automobile import taxes of the Saddam Hussein regime were removed.
