”He didn’t just cross the line,” Obama said. “He fed into some of the worst stereotypes that my two young daughters are having to deal with today in America…It was a degrading comment. It’s one that I’m not interested in supporting.”
Was he speaking of Rev. Wright? Nope. That was Don Imus he was referring to.
His daughters continued to attend Wright’s church.

I didn’t know Don Imus had daughters…

Punning,
Imus does actually have daughters. You learn something new everyday?
What are you suggesting, Dave?
Punning,
Heh. Don’t know if they went to Wright’s church.
Elisha,
That far from being the post-racial candidate, he’s just as hypocritical as every other politician that plays the race game.
test
ok, so it worked
Obama is a politician like any other politician. And it’s a shame his rhetoric against Imus was strong than a man he let be his spiritual shepherd for 20 years.
Is it really so surprising then that his wife would say she’s never been proud of her country during her entire adult life?
If Obama didn’t absorb his pastor’s hate, it’s clear his wife did.
Why do you guys see Rev. Wright as “hateful”?
What was so anti-white about his comments?
Is being anti-american the same as anti-white?
Isn’t being simply anti-American enough?
mario:
what have you seen? if you’ve been watching cnn or other msm outlets, ok i can see you saying that.
how about this though: the first one, where he’s telling his parishioners from the pulpit that 9/11 was ‘chickens coming home to roost’
did you see it? link
note how much enjoyment he gets out of saying it. note the date – he’s saying this even as rescuers are searching for bodies in the rubble. note how everyone is cheering him on.
note that this is a religious celebration of mass-murder.
Kevin D: Amen
I’ll say this, in fairness to Obama: although to outsiders such as me, this church appears to be a cult of personality wrapped around Rev. Wright, perhaps there is some God-worship going on there and a sense that it is God’s church, and not Rev. Wright’s church.

I did say on the Moderate Voice forum that his comments sounding like those cheering on the World Trade Center collapse. If I personally were a member, I wouldn’t stay.
I am curious about what Rev. Wright’s replacement will be like, will he be more of the same or will he lead the flock in a saner direction?

Inv,
Rev. Wright is the conduit by which God would deliver His word. If it doesn’t come by Wright it isn’t going to come out through another channel in that building. If it did, Wright wouldn’t be at the bema.
Look at the dynamic between David and Saul in the Tahakh. David wouldn’t lay a hand on Saul because God’s annointing was still on the king. So, even though Saul was unrighteous he was still in the place of authority. And though David would eventually replace him, Saul was still king and it would be through him God would give His word to his people.
Rev. Wright was still in that annointed place and it could only be through him God could give His word to the flock. Hopefully, in Wright’s retirement, God can begin to get through. But, given the people there who were exposed to Wright’s rhetoric and stayed, if God tries to bring correction you’ll see a mass exodus from that building. So, the question will be: Will the congregation let correction come in?
I’m less than hopeful.
It also seems to shed a little light on Michelle Obama’s comment about finally being proud of America. She is used to being part of a crowd that would tend to be appreciative of such a comment
