Well, he’s got my slightly reluctant vote anyway…
So, how many people in the voting public today do you think will realize that the clip of him lying down reciting his name and serial number were from the Hanoi Hilton where he was held as a POW? I’m afraid not many…

Enh, I think the campaign certainly works hard enough to make sure people know. I doubt many people will go into the voting booth in November and still not know it, although there’s always the hard-core blockheads who can’t get anything straight. I’m reminded of the lady in 2004 I met who said “I won’t vote for John Kerry because he wants to cut taxes for the rich.” It wasn’t a slip on her part, either. I didn’t even know where to begin…
From an advertising point of view: Fantastic Ad. Touches on all the affective issues surrounding a president in today’s context without resorting to fear mongering; show’s him strong. And affectively speaking, makes you want to run out and vote immediately.
If the rest of his campaign runs on this type of branding, I agree with you Dean, he will not have much problem winning over the conservative vote.
Now the extreme right wing, that’s an entirely different story.
I gotta say, that last line…

Granted, I can’t even begin to imagine what he’d have to do to get my vote. So I’m not really the guy to talk on this…

Nixon summed it up nicely years ago. The GOP can’t win without conservatives, but they can’t win with ONLY conservatives.
So, I don’t know whether McCain will get the conservative vote or win, for that matter.
But, he likely has my vote.
The epic battle between Hillary and Obama over non-ideas, ain’t doing much to change it, either.
