My Gateway died again last week. The same problem as last time: the power port disconnected from the motherboard. And I found it out 7 hours before giving a big talk in Minneapolis.
That’s the last straw, Gateway. Samsung, here I come!
I am about to join my local chapter of the Young Democrats. I don’t particularly care for either party, but it’s about time I became active in the local political scene … and the Democrats in this area seem a bit closer to my views than do the Republicans.
Its quite good – SecState Rice speaking on racial matters. She refused comment on Obama’s speech, which I think is appropriate, but one cannot help but note the differences.
Yep naftali – sold my house. Have to clear out of here by the end of April. Glad to get this onus off my back but I have a house full of crap that I wish I could afford to trash and start fresh. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to dump it all and I have to pack and move it. I also can’t get any time off at work because 3 people quit last month. :(
The concept is cool; the actual video is lame. It’s more like “a noise-maker you play by dancing”, with less musicality than a good tap-dancer can produce. But the video has multiple segments; and right around the 3 minute mark, he moves into a kind of space-music-like piece that shows a lot more promise.
This video is much better, in my opinion. It’s still very much space music in style. I can’t tell whether that’s because the guy just likes space music, or because space music is all the current tech can produce. I’ll bet it’s simply because he’s still experimenting and perfecting the technology, and will get a wider range of styles as he devises new interfaces.
Hmm. Interesting. Theremin himself invented an instrument that was based on the original Theremin instrument but used the full body to make music from dancing. It was far less successful than his original instrument, but if I understand correctly it was still in the development stages when he was forced to abandon it because of his kidnapping and enslavement by the Communists.

Coached my elder boy’s soccer game today (won 3-2); beloved Bruins in the Final Four; getting ready for kid’s birthday party tomorrow.

If you mean ‘packing’ as in clearing out a home and moving to another one…..Brutal. I you don’t, well, then I said it.
It’s made easier or harder depending on where and why one is moving.

It’s late for open thread, but this is too good to pass up. For those like Dean who like the theremin, check out this PopSci piece on a guy who has modified 8 Wii remotes to make an instrument you play by dancing.
