I wright about it at Likelihood of Success. My thoughts there are based on a very long discussion we had here at Dean’s World in reaction to a post I wrote maybe a year or nine months ago — it got really testy between Sean Golden and me — in which I argued that when you’re a member of a minority group, you are indeed “privileged” to make fun of the majority in a way that the majority should not, as a matter of decency, be allowed to do to you.
(Actually I wanted to link to that piece. Unfortunately there is no way to find anything on Dean’s World any more unless you’re really, really lucky, what with at least half of the posts’ authors misattributed. If anyone remembers that discussion, though, please send me the link or drop into the comments!)

So what you’re saying is that it’s ok for men (a slight minority) to make fun of women in a way that’s not acceptable for women to make fun of men.

You don’t understand that “minority” doesn’t mean “lesser number’ it means “protected victim class.”
This argument is so pathetic that I’m not going to get into it with Ron again. Anyone who would argue that it’s OK for blacks to be racist is not worth arguing with.

The difference between men and women is not statistically significant. It takes a lot of work to equate that with actual persecuted and reviled minorities, guys. Yeesh.
By the way, Ron, I sent out instructions to all DW contributors a week or so ago telling them what we need to do to fix that authorship thing. Did you not get it? It will take us all some time but it’s the only way to do it.
Ahhh… so much for “Do unto others…”, I guess…
