Ann Althouse:The art that was obviously a hoax was a hoax.
While we’re on the subject, we can’t forget the biggest feminist hoax of all, outlined here.
The United Nations would like you to believe that 1 in 3 of all women are victims. Because they know there is no evidence to support that claim, they inject the word, “may†into their statement and hope you don’t notice.
The petition is about “Violence Against Women,†and that UNIFEM thinks it should end, but do they really say what they’re going to do about it?
No, they don’t. There is a vague allusion to impact on “laws, policies, and attitudes,†which apparently the UN thinks is just peachy. Further, just to demonstrate how serious they are about this whole thing, every time somebody signs their petition, they’re going transfer $1 of the UN’s money to another department of the UN.
They don’t say what happens to the money after that. Maybe it’s to pay Nicole Kidman’s optometrist, who knows?
They also seem to have forgotten that this particular issue has been on public agendas in many countries for at least 40 years. Or maybe they don’t want to think about it, since apparently all their laws and “awareness†hasn’t amounted to much, when it comes to fixing the problem.
It’s kind of interesting when you think about it. In the last four decades, all kinds of social problems have been examined and there has been great progress in some of them. We approach issues like drug addiction and homelessness much differently today than back in the 1960s. Meanwhile, the attitude of the feminist establishment toward what they call “Violence Against Women†hasn’t changed one iota.
Out in the real world, serious research into problem of Intimate Partner Abuse has shown that both men and women are affected, and the old attitude that “all women are victims, all men are abusers†just doesn’t prove out under the light of objective examination. It’s a far more complex issue than can be approached by making laws or setting policies. It’s not a political issue.
One has to wonder what UNIFEM is really up to with this petition. Do they really think they can continue to fight the tide of change by propagating ignorance?
We think it’s time for open and honest inquiry into the issue of Intimate Partner Abuse.
Say NO to the UN’s “Violence Against Women†Campaign. Forty years of the wrong approach is enough! It’s time to consider other ideas.

Well, that’s funny because there’s probably truth behind the hoax about 1 in 3 women being abused, since if you include any type of violence, even mild and rare violence (say, a shouting match that turns into some shoving and pushing in a particularly nasty argument), then the 1 in 3 figure is believable, just stupid.
