Celia, I was with you until the scorpion and the tarantula showed up…then I couldn’t keep watching.

I’m with La Ventanita. However right the information might be the general presentation smelled like something the gay/lesbian extreme left, sex without consequence with anyone or anything, community would produce.

That sick bit with the scorpion and tarantula only confirmed it.

I could give two shits about how “free” they think they are.

Love it, Celia!

Allow me to interject a simple truism:

If A is the sole cause of B, then in all cases of B, you should find A, right?

Since the poliovirus causes poliomyelitis (polio), you would expect FDR to be infected with the polio virus, right?

Since small pox virus (variola virus) causes small pox, you would expect all persons with small pox, to be infected with said virus, right?

Well, unlike polio and small pox, there are significant numbers of AIDS patients who are not infected by HIV.

So, what’s causing AIDS in these people?

How’d you embed that? I’m trying to do the same thing.

FYI, the scorpion photo is a bit disturbing. It was used as an ad by the French government as scare-imagery to propagandize about the alleged dangers of unsafe sex.

Sans préservatif, c’est avec le SIDA que vous faites l’amour. Protégez-vous. (Without a condom, you’re making love to AIDS. Protect yourself).

Of course, there are many good reasons to wear a condom. Scaring people with lies, though, ain’t one of them.

Reading the summaries of the first few papers that came up in the search, I get the impression that:

1. Idiopathic CD4+ T-Lymphocytopenia  is extremely rare. If HIV didn’t cause AIDS, then I’d expect the rate of AIDS progression among untreated HIV+ people to be about the same as the rate of ICL in the general population. I don’t have exact numbers for either, but I propose it as an experiment.

2. ICL disease characteristics (particularly immunoglobulan levels and the behavior of CD4 count over time) are significantly different from AIDS. In your polio analogy, ICL is unexplained paralysis, not full-blown polio.

No, ICL is clinically identical to AIDS, but with no diagnostic trace of HIV. I wrote a 5,000 word feature story about it some…14 years ago.

This video is about people who are burdened with an HIV positive test and are trying to live, breathe, love, be human under the shadow of a death sentence that is quite arbitrary and unjustified.

The section featuring giant insects engaging in sex acts is obviously, as Hank says, "Safe Sex" propaganda. I too have heard that they originated in France, I would guess in the 1980s.

I’m not going to discuss HIV/AIDS dialectics. It’s beyond dispute that the whole thing is puck. Vicious garbage. Cant. Error and damage beyond measure and beyond the human imagination, (unless perhaps you grew up in a Communist country.)

I only asked Dean to post the video under my name because today was, after all, Rethinking AIDS Day, and I was unable to log on.

Let’s change the subject.

I for one find it hilarious that a couple of images that the French government created as a Public Service Announcement are essentially indistinguishable from something Mapplethorpe might have produced in order to "squick the normals".
