Our weekend walk was to go to the Stanford campus and wander all over for about 2.5 hours. We went up the elevator at Hoover Tower and saw the sights, and watched the end of a baseball game (against San Jose State) from a hill in the outfield.
It was a nice day to do this; a breezy 72 degrees. Also, the usual wedding-pix crowd was getting shots in at the church.
Can’t help but chuckle over this, although it may not be funny if I lived there.
From Times Online:
“As a magazine publisher on the Greek island of Lesvos — Lesbos according to the classical spelling — he is suing Greece’s biggest gay and lesbian association to get the term (with a small l) expunged from public usage.
He claims it is insulting to what he calls the proper Lesbians — the people of Lesvos. “We are suffering psychological and moral rape,†said Mr Lambrou.”

Photo’s from today’s Michigan All-State Bonsai show are here.
The show runs through tomorrow.
NI!
Martin, those are some fabulous bonsai! I’d love to photograph something like that.
Link dump of interesting things I’ve seen this week:
Gin, Television, and Social Surplus
At TED Talks: Dean Kamen: New prosthetic arm for veterans (He’s the Segway inventor)
Xtreme Concentrated Solar: Fossil Fuel Parity for Electricity
Several hundred year old body found in Canadian glacier linked by DNA to living people.
From Britain: one of the scariest ads I’ve ever seen. Truly Orwellian. (Re: The fee the BBC charges every TV owner in order to fund their programming.)
When you can’t decide, here’s who to vote for.

Either New Jersey is attacking Delaware or there’s a fireworks show going on in the distance. Guess that tax free shopping finally got to them.

Death to the Delaware tyrants!!1!11!!!!
The bombardment has stopped. Maybe Jersey realized that our cancer rate is higher than theirs.
Then again, maybe they’re just reloading…

This is pretty cool. Human tributes to the war effort – from 1918.
