Go read my response to Tyrone Steels in the comments on Senator Obamas goofup concerning the number of states he has visited.
I’m not always fun to read. But few people get bored when I’m up and going.
By the way. I didn’t mean to tear you a new butthole about getting rid of weight via physical exercize and moderated starvation. So don’t get offended. Preferably, get skinnier. If you can do that, it’ll be better for your health, social life, and sense of worth. I’m not saying this is either easy, or for some people, possible. But if you can hack it, it’s the right choice.
I’ve lost over a hundred pounds in the last few years, and dropped maybe 30 pounds since November of last year.
I will also always be overweight until better medical treatments are available; achieving normalweight status through diet and exercise alone is generally impossible for most chronically obese people, and the effort to force themselves to do that often makes them fatter, sicker, and even kills them.
That all, by the way, is the scientific consensus from the research community that’s been studying this issue for decades.
I’m thinking that within 20 more years or so we will have treatments good enough that we can simply eliminate obesity easily. Which is good, because it’s a disease just like any other crippling and sometimes fatal disease.

True Dean. I don’t know how much you have dieted in the past, but dieting only turns down the metabolism and exacerbates a weight problem. Dieting I think, is one of the biggest reasons for obesity in this country.
I saw The Cure tonight – and wasn’t the oldest geezer at the show (nor for that matter was Robert Smith). He and his band played for just shy of 3 hours, mostly old classics with a sprinkle of new songs. Opening band was 65daysofstatic – an instrumental band from Sheffield whose sound reminded me of Jesus & Mary Chain with hints of old New Order/Joy Division. The Wife is a huge Cure fan and she wasn’t disappointed. I tend to like everything up through Disintegration and neither was I.
The new stuff is still recognizable as Cure but it’s completely devoid of the old dark undertones/angst. Guess the Paxil works – or Robert just isn’t as depressed as he used to be. Either way the new stuff isn’t half bad; mediocre Cure beats most bands’ best stuff any time.
Our ears are ringing; it’s the first live show we’ve seen in over 16 years, and I’d forgotten how loud rock music can be. Plus it’s after Midnight and dang if it isn’t past my bedtime.
20 Years ago I used to go to clubs that didn’t even open until now. Amazing how Life changes you.
Sandi, your evidence does more to explain and verify the theory of evolution than most of the arguments that have come to my attention in recent years.
Survival of species mainly implies finding food and other sustenance under changes in climate or other aspects of environment.
P Mike: I lost it through a combination of factors, with the full support of the medical profession. Part of that involves giving up the idea that I can ever get down to a "normal" or "healthy" weight. As with most obese people, that is an unrealistic goal for someone like me, whose health will be more harmed by unrealistic expectations than carrying some extra pounds.
If you’re thinking you need to lose weight, your best friend will be a physician who specializes in weight loss (repeat, physican who SPECIALIZES IN WEIGHT LOSS, not just any physician). And your worse enemy will be practically everyone else, since most of what they "know" just isn’t so.

The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.
And the precipitation in Portugal pelts principally on the plateau.

something amusing.
Dean, how did you lose 100 lbs over the past few years & 30 in the past few months?
And (if it’s not too personal), how much do you have to lose to get to "normal weight"?
Why Obama should not be President (in 52 seconds).

Well Arnold obviously Obama knows there are only 50 states, and I’m sure that long hours of campaigning without sleep can degrade a persons thinking.
It is rather funny though, and there is a YouTube of it.
How about some volcano pics?
There are really awesome backgrounds for the PC here
