First off, I think it sad that this young mother believed she had to go to such extremes to disconnect from her husband. Secondly, I don't think that being in the military gives him a free pass either.Â
Glen talks about statistics alot...in regard to his 'facts' that women leave men more than the opposite and if that is true (and I won't take glens' word on that no matter if he's done this for years)...I would say that the female of a species protects their young, even at the detriment of themselves (unless you're a totally narcistic person)..I think it's a 'fact' that males, in all societies, are more aggressive than females, are statiscally more responsible for domestice and child neglect/abuse, and that rape statisics show that men are responsible for 99.9% of them...so knowing this..perhaps Glens comment that women leave men far more often than the oppostite may be well grounded...perhaps there is some justification for Glens statistics.   I believe that sometimes the more abusive the person is...the more they won't go away and that sometimes moving to Egypt just makes more logical sense. Â

Well, amongst other things, Glenn has been writing and speaking on these things for years and years. You might want to investigate his web site and the many things found on it.

The fact that it's almost always the women who leave and almost always the man who's willing to reconcile and change is common knowledge among those in the divorce industry and those who study it. It's not even controversial. It's just not the Hollywood stereotype.

I would like to believe 1) and 2) are true, because I think that was my particular situation. But, beyond anecdotes, how do you know they're true, Glenn?

<em>Boyd's last blog post..<a href='http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TexasNative/~3/283476022/music-and-me.html' rel="nofollow">Music and me</a></em>

detroit,

those initiating a no-fault divorce should at least be able to have joint custody of their children. after all, it's their spouse they're walking away from. agree with you on alimony, but child support should be a shared expense by both parties.

moving from a shared home is probably a good idea in cases of abuse anyways, but there are pecuniary concerns to consider here as well.

No fault divorce should be granted to a spouse upon request, but then that spouse walks away with no custody, no money, no anything. To get custody and money the spouse that requests must prove, and the burden of proof is on them solidly, true fault. A restraining order should obligate the person who files for it to move from a shared home, so as to prove that they are seriously afraid. Allegations that one spouse is abusing the other or children must be proven, with evidence, in court, not acted on just in case. That should fix alot of this. And if that doesn't work, replace all current family court judges with construction workers. That should do the trick.

how does this case "reveal" truths 1 and 2? more importantly, whether men or women are the "true romantics" or whatever seems totally unimportant. if you want a divorce you should be able to get one. that doesn't excuse dana's actions, if she had wanted a divorce she should have a) waited to tell her partner to his face, and b) certainly not abscond with all of his money.

truth 6 also seems off-the-mark. the article makes no mention that the presumptive sentence would be anything different for a man in the same situation.

the real tragedy is truth 7, that she still has custody after screwing her partner over. while it may be a practical issue seeing as her husband is on active duty and could be called away at any time, it still seems ridiculous that a convicted felon retains the rights while her honorably-serving husband loses both house and home in the bargain.

If she had any nuts, I'd kick her there. How disgusting.

Unfortunately, Glenn, you are right. There will probably be few, if any, real repercussions for her.
