Measuring Progress Via Progressively More Picayune Pessimism From Progressive News Media

A couple months ago, Instapundit reader Walter Boxx remarked about our MSM war coverage:

UPDATE: Reader Walter Boxx emails: “The way the Japanese could tell they were losing WWII was that the great victories reported by their media were getting closer and closer to home. Our media problem is like a fun-house mirror version of this – the way we can tell we are winning is that our crushing defeats are happening less often and to different enemies.”

No doubt this article gives Walter a smile.

Wounded Iraqi Forces Say They’ve Been Abandoned

Remember when Iraq was a hopelessly intractable civil war quagmire of militias and terrrorists?  Now, with Iraqi government forces  taking control of the country, inadequate veteran’s care is the focus.

Dave,

I agree with the point here, but I think Walter would have to be a psychopath to smile at tragedies detailed in the linked article.

Thank you zach, and you are correct. There is nothing in that article worth smiling over. I see the point Dave is trying to make but he has mangled the delivery terribly and attributed something to me which no sane person would wish. I hope Dave has the decency to either remove my name from his post or re-word his comments. Laughing at wounded soldiers is not in the same category as making fun of the press.
