Sadr Successfully Sheds More Unwanted Leadership, Arms

Another defeat for the coalition and Iraqi government:

Iraqi forces detained three senior Sadrists members of the Maysan provincial council on Wednesday in the latest series of raids targeting senior Sadrist leaders in the former Mahdi Army bastion of Maysan province.

Not reported: those guys were always bothering Sadr with text messages and voicemail asking to borrow money or drive them to the airport. He’s better off without them.

Meanwhile, Iraqi special forces uncovered a Mahdi Army headquarters and several large weapons caches in the provincial capital.

What Iraqi  forces didn’t know is that Sadr was planning to grow asparagus, and tricked them into tilling the garden for him when they dug up the weapons.  The crafty Sadr wins again!
