A Wikipedia Competitor?

Google is now testing a product they call Knol. Although they seem to be saying it isn’t a competitor, but kinda is.

It’s an interesting experiment, for sure.

I like the idea. I’m sure there are many people with specialized knowledge who can benefit from a painlessly hosted and potentially profitable place to share their expertise.

I guess the name is supposed to suggest "Knowledge" but how is it pronounced? "Null" (as in empty)? "Knoll" (as in grassy)? "K’Nol! (as in Klingonese)? Someone at Google should write an entry about this topic.
