The Big Lie

The MSM and Obama campaign join forces for this whopper:

Obama has acknowledged the surge reduced violence in Iraq but says it has failed in its political goal of facilitating a reconciliation among contentious Iraqi factions. The Illinois Democrat proposes to withdrawn U.S. combat forces from Iraq within 16 months; McCain opposes any timetable for withdrawal.

Iraqi leaders have been pressing the U.S. for a timetable for withdrawal.

“It is hard to understand how Sen. McCain can at once proclaim his support for the sovereign government of Iraq, and then stubbornly defy their expressed support for a timeline to remove our combat brigades from their country,” said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

Advancing the notion that Iraqis want a withdrawal timetable that ignores conditions on the ground is incredibly dishonest.  Yes, Iraq’s democratically elected government would like to set a goal for when U.S. troops will go home.  But it’s plainly ridiculous to suggest they want a set-in-stone date by which we withdraw all combat forces even if their government is falling and those same elected leaders are being slaughtered in the streets en masse, which has been Obama’s position all along.

To imply that Obama’s position is somehow closer to the Iraqis’ than McCain’s is a lie of epic proportions.  I expect nothing better from Bill Burton, but to see the MSM play along is just sickening.

From all this, I am getting a clearer picture of how Achmedinejad will be rendered deceased one night, somewhere in Iran.

I understand the ATL does an excellent job of instantaneously cooking someone, without stir frying the dish. So in this this case, "rendered" and deceased are related but separate states.

How about a "goal" rather than a "timetable?"  I am reminded of a time working at a facility that supported research from groups around the world.  We had a monthly shutdown for maintenance that varied (among other things) according to what happened during the month.  Guys from Japan would make plane reservations 6-9 months in advance and never be sure thier trip would coincide with an operating period.  We were HAMMERED to get a reliable schedule for the customer, and ended up producing an "Operating Forecaste" because so much was unpredictable that we couldn’t make a reliable schedule.
