Gah.
It’s weird seeing this pretty little Filipina woman, barely visible in the crowd, surrounded by journalists and “peace” protesters screaming at her and calling for her murder.
Defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy.

I think there was mainly one guy yelling "Kill Michelle Malkin" and by the end of the video he was yelling pro-Malkin statements; probably just there to cause trouble.
I thought it was a pitiful display, but that’s the way those folks operate. That Alex Jones is one manly dude getting in the face of "evil" Michelle like that. How brave.
yeah and in the peace (no scare quotes) protesters’ defense, when Jones got going, one guy very audibly was trying to drown out his ridiculous hate by saying ‘peace,’ you can clearly hear people telling Alex not to hurt her, and someone with a microphone is yelling at Jones calling him the agent provocateur. Seems like the only danger she was in was being brainwashed by a few Ron Paul supporters.
If you can watch it all the way through, you have a lot more patience that I. And trying to listen to Stephen Green, the PJTV, guy is sorta like waiting for grass grow. A journalist he is not.
Sandi,
I listened to the whole thing on headphones and was sort of subsumed in this World of Alex that I sort of got acclimated to after a few minutes. But when I took the headphones off the sudden silence, the absence of ‘YOU LITTLE MONSTER YOU LITTLE FASCIST YOU LITTLE MONSTER’, was like suddenly realizing the world has a mute button.
Can’t these people crawl out from under their rock AFTER the election? Sheesh.
On that note they made it sound like a mob carrying torches ravaged Michelle and almost took her life when in reality it was some sophomoric college dropouts yelling obscenities at her. I would say the outrage is quite an exaggeration. In fact I would venture that Michelle knew her viewpoint was controversial to these people and if anything, likely to cause some kind of chaos.
jrogge,
i don’t really rate malkin as really being worth anything, but i don’t think it’s unreasonable for her to expect to be able to go to a place like this and, so long as she’s not confrontational, expect to be able to report (or whatever it was she was going to do) unmolested.
i think people like jones and paul supporters in general are just interested in causing a scene, and if it was malkin it would have been someone else.
I sort of disagree. If Michelle Malkin walked into the actual convention and stood around mainstream Dems, then yes you should expect to be able to report without hassle. But if you are a well known arch-conservative and you walk up to a group of radical liberals you are going to be verbally abused. Especially if your controversial ideas center around internment! Hooray segregation now, segragation forever! She should have just called her book "Kill all the Ragheads".
The radicals were already causing a scene, they stopped their planned activity of causing said scene to yell at someone they hate. So they didn’t do it just to cause a scene they just laterally transferred a planned activity to a similar non-planned one.
It’s like walking up to a group of hardline Baptists in a Satan costume. or, if you prefer a Citizens Against Child Abuse gathering with a NAMBLA shirt on. I bet if Alex Jones walked into a Neo-Con radical group he would be called a "baby-killer" and other obscenities.
Conservatives do this shit all the time. "Oh look a group of people that dispise me, I’ll pretend to be innocently minding my own business and walk up to them, oh look how angry they are they must hate free speach".
Either that or she’s a complete idiot. Which is it?
jrogge,
one must never discount the complete idiot possibility. ;p
i agree with you about the likelihood that she would be accosted. but i’m simply saying in a perfect world the satanist should be able to walk into the baptist church, and, so long as he wasn’t being disruptive, either be accorded some modicum of civility and debated on the merits, or else be politely shown the door. granted there was no door to show michelle to in this particular case, but i would have preferred a reaction of either total disinterest or else strong and respectful argumentation.
but, i think you’ll agree, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist (or even a complete idiot) to realize the world isn’t perfect.

Yeah it’s a possibility I considered. It’s a good possibility too. But I find that the conservative groups find themselves in these situations a lot under the same circumstances.

I hope for that perfect world. In a normal situation, the civil discourse would actually take place. This may be a convention or a social or some civilized setting and Michelle Malkin decides to say show up at a Democratic fund raiser or something. People will probably look at her funny or politely ask her to leave. This wasn’t a normal situation, instead she decided to do this to a bunch of nose-picking, grassroots protesting, hippie retards. The reaction will be different, because as you said the world isn’t perfect and we all know this.

Which is why I think it is a deliberate ploy. She’s old enough to know you don’t poke the badger in his den. She’s also probably aware the world isn’t perfect and I daresay she’s done enough to earn her .000000001% of the blame for it being so.
