My Promises To You, Mr. President

President Obama

Barack Hussein Obama, you are the 44th President of the United States. I did not vote for you, but what a great thing it is that you have won anyway.

I did not vote for you, Mr. President, but you are my President, my Commander In Chief. If you f*ck up Iraq and Afghanistan, you can expect me to be your most passionate critic. You were wrong on Iraq from the beginning, and you will hear from me every day in that regard. But I otherwise must tell you: you are an inspiration. You have proven to the world that any child born in the United States can grow up to become President. You are, in many ways, proof positive that the American Dream is alive and well.

Here’s what you can expect from me: I am a principled, passionate critic. I have very strong opinions on many issues, some of which we disagree on. But you are my President, my leader. I will never forget that, and I will never forget that you are living proof that the American Dream is a very real thing.

Hail to the Chief.

Mr. Obama  is properly called President elect, Mr. Bush is still my president until Mr. Obama is sworn in to uphold our constitution.  Then we can properly salute him as Mr. President.  I hope and pray he is not as much a socialist as I have been led to believe.  I hope our country is truly on the right path, but many years of observation tell me otherwise.  I commend your reasons for saluting him on his victory.  I would rather have the first black president be one like Michael Steele or J. C. Watts, but they are not. So, again, I hope I am wrong in my harsh criticisms of Mr. Obama.

That’s your right as an American, Ruth. But the only thing I’ll say is: it shouldn’t matter whether you like the guy or not, he’s still our President. Right?

Ruth the key word u said in your comment was you were LED to belive he was a lot of things that are not true u should embrace him as your president now cause Bush has ran our country to the ground obama is part you and me he is white and black and rasied in a white home away from the harsh racists acts of the south and he is human as u and are also and give him a chance and don’t be waiting for a mistake but be willing to help rebuiled our country. For 8 years we have excepted a bad path lets be open minded to a new one!!

What I am saying is that he is our President Elect, not president until he takes the oath. Then he will be my president.  I would  have preferred otherwise, but he will be our president.   I hope the people who have put their faith in him as someone who will cure all their ills, financial or otherwise realize he is still a mortal, not a Messiah.  Yes he will have my respect as a president, still out on my opinion on him as a person.

Ron: OK, you win. He’s still my President, and God Bless America for it. ;-)
