Incoming Energy Secretary Steven Chu Mentions Polywell Fusion, Says He’s Looking Into It

M Simon has the video, from a Tech Talk in early 2007.  At the 1:01:34 mark, when asked if he’s evaluated Bussard’s fusion technology, Chu says:

“Partly. (chuckle) And, I was discussing with people at Google for, I don’t know,  an hour, hour and a half, and it’s continuing, and… let me just say, so far, there’s not enough information, so I can give an evaluation of the probability that it might work, or not.  But I’m trying to get more information, I’ve talked to them a little bit.”

Halcyon days for those of us trying to get more attention to this effort.  We now have an energy secretary who has some familiarity with the concept.

We now have an energy secretary who has some familiarity with the concept.

If ya watched the video we also have an energy secretary who believes that it is a foregone conclusion, that the upward trend in global warning is caused by fossil emissions by humans.

If he had said that it is possible or even likely I would have reserved him some credibility. He has none with me now.
