Sounds like a mix of FDR and JFK. I can’t help but be put off by the vibe that, rather than a shining city on a hill, we’ve now become an envious also-ran behind China.

When I tell people that I’m a Roosevelt Republican, more or less, and get a question mark look in response, I tell them:

"Theodore, actually."

But that’s okay. Every now and then, the time comes when "Franklin Delano, actually" is the model we need for the economic problems of this country.

I am increasingly impressed by Obama and the way he tackles these seemingly hopeless domestic situations. And, yes indeed, there are times when the whole country needs another WPA to get the economy moving again. I still remember the old original model in the very late 1930s. And its time is coming again. Real soon.
