Sorry Dean. Strawmen piss me off more than anything. I didn't say the US was evil or that we had any evil intent. In fact we had only the best intentions. Too bad this is what we have after decades of work trying to resolve conflict. Our activity has stalled what should have been a natural progression of conflict there. This has allowed hatred to build and has involved us in a conflict that should have had little to do with us.

Trying to get involved in other people's problems only makes the problem worse in the long run. If we had not gotten involved there would be little reason to hate us. The HATERS, by the way, will never stop hating and waiting for that is a wait that will last our lifetimes. In fact, that was my point. There is nothing we can do about the fact that these two groups of people hate each other. Our efforts have only created more problems for everyone. We need to stop messing with people and fix our own problems.

Otherwise, when we're broke from all the money we bleed out on these little projects, a shell of what we once were as a nation, our tombstone will read "They meant well".

Cosmic and JRogge: We all lose our tempers once in a while, and I know I don't always live up to my own standards, but, could you two cool it with the name-calling and the overheated rhetoric? Thanks.

jrogge:Â

"You idiot" I am telling you that right or left, thinking that America on its own has influenced the level of hatred between these people which has endured for CENTURIES is exactly what I mean when I say that the only time you recognize the power of the US is when it supposedly does something evil. All the U.S. has done in this conflict is provide additional excuses and rationalizations for the hatred to continue. Had the U.S. done nothing, other excuses would have been found. Had the US done more, more excuses would have been found.

It can only be resolved when the HATERS stop hating. And there is very little we can do about that, no matter how powerful we think we are.

You idiot I am criticizing the left. All of the "peace talks" we tried, keeping Israel on a leash, and otherwise not allowing what was inevitable to take course has only amplified the situation. You are a moron who only spews strawmen and you lack original thinking. If we had stayed out of this and allowed it to resolve itself this situation would be light years ahead.

jrogge, I love your "we have allowed the hatred of both sides to be amplified...." etc.

The only time Lefties talk about the power of the United States is when they can claim it is bent to evil purposes.

History tells us that this conflict goes back over a thousand years. I love how you manage to still pin the blame on the good ole U. S. of A.

lol

Unfortunately with Hamas running things the only "peace condition" will be the eradication of one side or the other. This group will not see reason and their continued attacks against Israel are proof positive of this. Gaza was given to Palestine and walls were erected to try and control the incidents from there. Many critics aptly claimed these were futile gestures that solved nothing. A united state government that allows for peace and equality is the best and probably most peaceful solution to this. Unfortunately at this stage, we have degenerated to the point where even if Israel started incorperating the Palistinians into a united government and allowed them equal access to all things entitled to a citizen of a developed and free democracy, it would only be rejected. The Palestinians, as a majority since there are always exceptions, would reject the notion of sharing their country with these "monsters". War is inevitable and we have allowed the hatred of both sides to be amplified by the stalling of what should have been a resolved conflict ages ago. Now it will be bloody and vicious. The Isreali citizens and Palestinian citizens will be the most hurt. God help these people.

The Left has always had a fascination with totalitarion, repressive regimes, from Castro's Cuba to Chavez's Venezuela to Mao's China and Stalin's Russia.

When you realize that the Left has been rationalizing despotic atrocities for generations you should understand that the crimes of Hamas, Hezbollah and others who attack Israel are really small potatoes. After all, when you can excuse the systematic slaughter of twenty million Russians in support of your favorite despot, what do a few rockets lobbed at a Democracy matter?

I am consistently baffled, but not surprised, by some people's insistence that, "If only Israel would..." there'd be peace in the Middle East. These people have their heads in the sand. This issue here isn't Israel, and it never has been.

And this problem isn't ever going to go away.Â
