Obama Incompetence Watch

by Dave Price on March 27, 2009

in Politics

— Dozens of deputy positions at Treasury are still unfilled.  What economic crisis?

– Another Obama appointee turns out to have an embarrassing problem that forces his resignation.  At Treasury, no less.

— The Obama admin’s financial rescue website, announced a month ago with promises of transparency, is still under construction.  There are a few links there, mostly to publicly-available docs, but the sub-headline is “this site is coming soon.”

— Despite Obama’s promise to end them, DEA raids on medical marijuana clubs are continuing.  This should be a simple executive order.  Is Barry really even really President, or just a guy with a fancy teleprompter?  It’s increasingly hard to tell.

It’s almost like we elected someone with no executive experience at all… oh right.

UPDATE:  Hey, who still thinks everyone making less than $250K is getting a tax cut?

Does all of this make him incompentent or just another politician?

To me it seems he is just another politician, which is still a point worth raising given that his supporters generally believed there was something different, unique, and special about The One. He presented a remarkable illusion, allowing angry Bush haters to project onto him all of the qualities that they dreamed of… he admitted as much in his book, referring to himself as a “blank screen” in that context IIRC.

But I can’t say I agree (yet) that he is especially imcompetent relative to other politicians.

OK Dave, repeat after me…

What Obama SAYS has ABSOLUTELY NO RELATIONSHIP WHATSOEVER to anything Obama DOES.

Pointing out his lies, indecision, changes in direction, changes of heart, or whatever is pointless.

His supporters don’t care, the NEVER voted for reality, they voted for illusion and they will hang onto that illusion for dear life, and his detractors ALWAYS KNEW he was what he is.

It’s like the old Far Side cartoon where the parents come home and are berating the witch “You mean we hired you to watch our kids and instead you killed and ate them BOTH?”

Yeah, you hired a witch. Color me surprised.

Paul:

If you are simply too polite to say it, leave it to me. Yes, Obama is especially incompetent compared to other PRESIDENTS. Sure there are dozens, perhaps hundreds (Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters, etc.) of politicians equally or even more incompetent. But up until now the American people (with the exception of Jimmy Carter) have managed to NOT ELECT them to be President.

What is interesting to me is how European leaders are more and more public in their incredulity on Obama’s incredible inexperince, naievetee and, yes, incompetence.

The upcoming G20 summit is likely to be very interesting.

… and what happened to the edit option?

“What Obama SAYS has ABSOLUTELY NO RELATIONSHIP WHATSOEVER to anything Obama DOES.”

. . .because just as Clinton was “the first black president”, Obama is “the first female president.”

I’m not convinced that he’s incompetent.

I hope that’s all that’s going on.

you’re right. it only took bush 163 days to fill his senate-confirmed positions, and it only took his dad 422 days to fill all technical positions in cabinet level departments. what’s the hold up???

8 Dishman March 27, 2009 at 10:58 pm

what’s the hold up???

Let’s see, he’s more than 2 months into his term, and he’s nominated one person to Treasury. At his current rate, it will take at least 3 years to finish nominating people there.

That’s assuming, of course, that’s able to make net progress. It’s questionable whether or not he can actually get a second person confirmed before Wonderboy resigns.

zach:

How many top-level Bush appointees had to withdraw or were not confirmed?

I count 1. ONE.

How many has Obama had? What’s the latest count? Nine? Ten? A baker’s dozen?

Defend this empty suit all you like. The truth is becoming quite apparent to this nation and the world.

And, as I have said. You were warned.

Yeah the inability to find someone to fill the Treasury slots is kinda depressing. It seems Obama is having a hard time finding someone in congress who both has experience in the world of commerce and is not corrupt.

He should really hire scholars that are outside the political circle in Congress. It’s his only hope of finding anyone with integrity.

11 jrogge March 31, 2009 at 3:48 pm

I count 1. ONE.
Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, “Scooter”, and 39 others actually. Also, there’s that Federal bankruptcy Judge, Somma? Anyhow the guy who got the DUI in his fishnet stockings. What do you mean by top level? Bush had a lot of high level people resign.

I guess I’ll start grumbling when he hits that 42 mark. Although at this rate that should be pretty soon. Especially since not only is this “transparency in government” making it more obvious there isn’t a guy running the joint that doesn’t have dirty laundry, but also no one wants to be in charge of the economy due to the fact that it’s failing and they will probably get blamed for any little thing.
