Michael Yon In Afghanistan

A friend asked me recently if Michael Yon, the most amazing reporter working in the early 21st Century, has been writing anything interesting lately. Abashed, I realized I hadn’t been keeping up myself, even though by now this guy should have won at least 2 or 3 Pulitzers, if the Pulitzer Committee really knew what they were doing in this century.

Here’s his latest dispatch working with Gurkha (native) troops in Afghanistan.

Almost everything he writes is worth reading, and his photography is often spectacular.

The only reason a major news outlet hasn’t picked up his work is because no one in charge at major news outlets knows what the hell they’re doing in the modern world. They’re still stuck in the 1950s and 1960s model, they really are.
