Your 4th of July Open Thread 2009

by Dean Esmay on July 3, 2009

in Etc.

It’s the 4th of July weekend (most businesses and government offices are closed tomorrow, so the weekend starts now) and we’ll undoubtedly be posting some patriotic stuff later, but this is the open thread and I’m in the mood for something different:

Besides, is there anything more American than that? :-)

By the way, the Elder Prince and I were there just a few hours ago. So what have you been up to?

(More great music like that right here, and the movie is right here.)

Then again we’re living in the US of Obamaland.

spending the 4th in china, been here for three weeks, and will stay through the beginning of september doing some research. just missed the dragon boat festival when i came here, and i’ll just miss the mid-autumn festival on the other end. so…no holidays for me this summer. no barbecues either. don’t feel too bad, though, i’ll be travelling to sichuan later in the summer pretty much for the sole purpose to sample 川菜 (chuan cai – sichuan cuisine).

I’m heading out to the capitol building in Austin to attend a Tea Party. I’ll be taking lots of pictures and post about it later.

It was 113 degrees during the day — time to stay inside & huddle around the A/C . That’s what we mostly do on July 4th. Xmas and Thanksgiving are our big outdoor holidays!
