I would agree that when Truthers believe the government conspired to bring the towers down, they're believing something truly awful.

Yet I know some Truthers. I disagree with them, but I try not to argue with them. There's not much point. It's like meeting someone who's a Fundamentalist Christian: you can't out-argue them on the Bible, because whichever one of the thousand different theologies they embrace, they've got it referenced and researched six ways from Sunday "proving" that their interpretation is the only and obvious right one. You can't win, so why try?

On other matters they are usually decent people who are all right to hang out with. So, live and let live, I say.

So, all that said, am I upset that some middling high appointee somewhere in the Obama administration is a Truther? Not really, unless he's being put in charge of some job where that would matter.

I have a dear, dear friend, who, irritatingly, is a Birther.

Likewise, I have some dear, dear Uncles and Aunts, who hated Bush so much, they became Truthers.

The Birthers, at least, are focusing on a trivial issue. We know Obama was BORN. That he was born in Hawaii or somewhere else, doesn't really bother most sane people. Perhaps, his Birth Certificate is definitely from Hawaii, but identifies his religion as "Islam," which his critics would use for political ends. Who knows, who cares.

The Truthers, however, are a different kettle of fish. They are accusing various Gov't officials with "Treason" and"Conspiracy to Commit Murder."

It is beyond irresponsible to make such charges in such a cavalier fashion, without evidence.

I saw Michael's Movie, because I wanted to see the best evidence he could muster. He failed. It was a piece of dreck, on par with Oliver Stone's ridiculous "JFK."

I'm more than willing to listen to engineers talk about how and why the towers toppled, what they expected to happen, what did happen.

But........ I do think Truthers are beyond the pale.
