Note the name change above. It may become Dean’s World again if Dean ever decides to make this his site again.

You should find, or have made, a weird symbol and put that up as the name. I mean, it worked for Prince, right?

Wait…

Seems kind of silly, try flipping “The Blog Formerly Known As Dean’s World” with “Defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy” so that the title is now the sub-heading and vice-versa.

“Defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy” is an interesting title for the blog. No?

I’m fine with the new name, or whatever else you might call this place. I’m a very long term reader, and very sporadic commenter. In the past, when Dean indicated he might abandon the blog, I’ve written to express my hope that he would not. I did not this time, but only because something in his post seemed different, making me think it might actually be time for him to make a break. In any event, I write to say that I am delighted with the solution you folks have developed, and extremely grateful first to Dean, and also to the front page contributors and other commenters. Finally, a new special thanks to those who are stepping up to keep this place going.

You know, Gary, that’s not a bad idea at all. Still, the eventual idea is to go to a fairly short name- the current title is a little tongue-in-cheek, if you know what I mean.

Maybe we need a naming contest? Something to perk up the weekend. Also, there are others involved in the maintenance and administration of the blog and we haven’t really had a chance to hash this out as group- I’ve been flying solo the past couple of days.

Just to make clear- my main responsibility is to check the spam filter and approve new comment accounts. Dean has essentially said “Do as you please”, but I can’t see any reason for huge changes, and I still need to consult with the others.

I knew it was kind of a joke, but Dean has commented on the name before this. Even mentions it on the “about” page. I was just thinking out loud…

The new title might not attract new readers, but the tagline might…

My 2 cents for a new name:
DE WORLD
This should be read as if pronounced by a Bears SuperFan.

Dean’s Place

Dean’s Lounge

Dean’s Crowd

Dean’s Not Here (For you young folks, that’s a Cheech and Chong reference.)

Whatever Happened to Dean Esmay? (For you non-comic-geeks, that’s a Superman reference.)

Dean Who?

Stuck in the Middle with… Dean?

Call it whatever the hell you want. I’m more interested in the content than the label. Just so I can log onto it and expound now than then.

As far as I’m concerned, you could call it “Turkey Sandwich” if you like. Just so long as linx work.

I know nothing of sports, so can’t comment on Bears and Bulls and Angels and Devils, etc. ;>)
