I was alive and well and living in Chicago (and Des Moines for a while) in the early 1960s, and I too could never figure out why a couple of bright guys like the Kennedy brothers kept Sorensen around for. Neither of them were the kind of folks who seemed to have much use for psychophants, idiots or advisers who could simultaneously be described by both those terms. I never much liked the Iraq war.
