I am enjoying my last weekend without being an IT geek on call. No cell phone, no Blackberry, no worries about being yanked out of bed at 3:00 AM because a customer did something “that shouldn’t have affected anything.” Yeah, that’s the ONLY thing I’ll miss about being unemployed- the quiet weekends.
So, what are people up to? Interesting links? Videos (Front pagers feel free to update this)? What’s going on?

Got some somewhat disturbing news tonight but I’ll survive. Good friends and loved ones will see me through, as I’ve begun to finally learn.
Gaming tonight with Jake, and that’s always wonderful. I do miss him so when he’s not here.
Got some serious hopes for regular employment again. Something seems to be in the air, my unemployed IT geek friends are all slowly getting things, here and there. Pay cuts all around, security not there, but stuff is seeming to come to life.
I feel your pain, John, but at least now you will be getting paid for your troubles. (I know. That’s not much consolation. But still…)
I have been in the computer industry a long time, and I always tell my colleagues in this business to *never* become the computer guru for your family and friends. That is a recipe for unending hassles with the computer troubles of everyone you know. And for that, you almost never get paid. After all, how can you charge your teen aged niece for degunking her computer after unending facebook and twitter sessions have well and truly framiced it.
I had a busy, busy week, entertaining some Chinese coworkers again. Now I’m trying to get caught up on what went on in the rest of the world. Blogs are great for that!
I’m also sick as a dog. I hope it’s just a cold, and not the flu.
Here’s a link to a video rant I thought was pretty good. I recently confirmed that I’m 1/64th black/negro/African –American/colored, or whatever the proper word is these days Maybe that’s enough to allow me to represent!
I rebuilt my Exchange 2007 server on my Hyper-V box today, but I’m still having the same issue I had before- it won’t install SP2 because it claims it can’t find my Domain Controller. Still looking at Technet for a solution I haven’t tried.
Yes, this is my Return To Geekdom Weekend ;)
Working some crazy overtime for some crazy money right now. It’s surreal — my wife and I have gone from double unemployment to the top 1% of household incomes. But who knows how long it will last.
