For any who are confused, here’s all a fatwa is.
So some obscure cleric has given an opinion on Facebook that seems silly. Wow, that’s really…. I’m not sure “interesting” is even the word.
By the way, here is the definition of edict.
This fatwa is not an edict.
Jesus, this really IS embarrassing. I’m a Christian, and I’m not a Muslim, and it takes me less than 30 seconds to puncture Jawa Report’s insanely islamophobic gibberish. Rusty’s a nice guy, Dave, but you’re silly to take his rants on this stuff seriously.
Nowhere did the (obscure) cleric say he wanted to “ban” facebook. He just issued an opinion that disccussed some negative aspects of facebook (and acknowledged some positive aspects). He cited a study and then advised people to be careful about using it or avoid it if possible.
Yes, Dave, exactly like Pat Robertson. *eyeroll*
For an actual intelligent debate about this, see the thread at Talk Islam. Not that fans of the jafisphere are interested in debate, mind you.
Oh, lookie here:
The author of the supposed fatwa (opinion) against Facebook says the stories are a bunch of crap, he did no such thing, and neither did the committee he’s a member of.
The Jafisphere embarrasses itself more and more all the time.
