Of America’s third parties, historically one of the most influential was the Progressive Party of the early 20th Century. As an insight into history, their platform for the 1912 election is fascinating reading.

Ugg. Teddy Roosevelt deserves Mount Rushmore less than Obama deserves the Nobel.

BTW, about it’s influence, this is the Bull Moose Party which ran Roosevelt, not the former Progressive Party which ran William Jennings Bryan. I’m not sure whether there was really any relation between the two parties. The Bull Moose Party seems to have been purely a vehicle for Roosevelt’s ambition. It folded up after he gave up running – much faster than the Reform party did, I think.

Ugh? Looks like an awful lot of it is stuff we not only got, but take for granted now, and America was far more prosperous afterward than before.
