Weekend Music Thread

Hey there! Remember this?

I have to admit, I’ve been spending more time on Facebook, and my job has consumed me for the last few months. I’m not complaining though!

I’ve still read every word posted here at Dean’s World (on the front page and in the comments). I just haven’t responded as much.

That doesn’t mean I’m not interested!

So let’s get some music going.

Vodkapundit is one of the three blogs I’ve followed intently for at least a decade (Dean’s World and Instapundit being the other two). Wow, that’s a long time!

Stephen has started a Friday night jazz thread, which is usually pretty good. I’ve listened to last week’s post about 20 times!

I’ve also been into Dio lately. Man, I don’t know how I missed his awesomeness during my teenage years. I was vaguely appreciative of him then. But now, I love him (may he RIP)!

And then there’s this. I think will be the biggest hit of the last 5 years. Pure awesomeness! And wow, 50 years of James Bond. Still kicken for a cold war relic. But the themes are timeless.

I forget who the opening band was that I going for, but I saw Dio play back in the early 90s. For someone so small (5’4″) his stage presence was amazingly huge.

I really how this mashup turned out.

Friend sent me this song recently through Spotify. Cool that he’s got a video. Mesmerizing:

    I’m looking forward to “Skyfall”.

“Casino Royale” was, considering everything, the best Bond film yet made. “Quantum of Solace” was, considering everything, the worst Bond film yet made.

    Wow, fruitylips, that was good!

War Pigs was one of the songs we nailed in the first rock band I ever played in.

And that makes me wonder even more how I missed Dios’ greatness.

Maybe I was too smitten with Ozzy……

Dean, I liked that one too! Reminded me of ZZ Top, but a bit more edgier.

Speaking of which,I really like thier latest attempt at a hit!

Jay: I think ZZ Top made a conscious decision not to try to make “hits” anymore some time ago, and just wanted to go back to the niche they had before they went for the big disco-beat dance-rock hits of their ’80s work. They just want to do old-fashioned blues rock, cuz that’s who they are and where they are.

    Sandi: That’s hilarious!
